Debuted in February 2002, the starting time generation Sorento was a traditional truck-based body-on-frame SUV. A redesigned Sorento (codename XMA) was launched in Republic of korea in Apr 2009. Kia Motors revealed the third generation Sorento in Southward Korea on August 28, 2014. The vehicle afterwards made its European debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. In November 2014, Kia Motors collaborated with 20th Century Fox to create a Wolverine-themed Sorento to promote the home media release of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The fourth generation Sorento was officially unveiled through a serial of images on Feb 17, 2020.[28] The unveiling of the product version had originally been planned for the afterward-cancelled Geneva Motor Show.

On September 22, 2020, the quaternary-generation Kia Sorento fabricated its debut in North America. It is offered in several different trim levels: LX, Southward, EX, SX, SX Prestige, and SX Prestige X-Line.
